“Where did it all start?”
Brain Awareness Week is an annual public information campaign originally created in 1996 by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and promoted by the Society for Neuroscience. During Brain Awareness Week, neuroscientists across the world campaign to advance public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research.
The Montreal Brain Awareness Week Campaign was launched in 1998 by a group of neuroscience graduate students working at the Douglas Hospital Research Center in Verdun. Today, the campaign is organized through an extensive collaboration between graduate students from all four universities in Montreal, the Montreal Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience and many local sponsors.
