The addiction scientific café was held on February 17, 2010 at O Patro Vys. The evening MC was Selma Hamdani and out guest panelists were Dr. Thomas Brown, Dr. Paul Clarke, Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky and Dr. Marco Leyton. Approximately 55 people attended the event. The evening was very successful. The audience was very attentive and the evening ended with an animated question and answer session. Thanks to everyone in attendance and the BAW Montreal team of volunteers! See you at the Music Café March 15th, 2010!
The Addiction Scientific Café aims to provide insight into health-related issues of popular interest to the general public, and in turn provoke questions and provide answers. Our panel of expert speakers will discuss various facets of addiction such as drugs, nicotine, sex, gambling etc. A brief introduction of their work will be followed by an open question & answer session and some light entertainment.
This Café is open to anyone interested in the topic of addiction. We especially encourage the family and friends of those suffering from different forms of addiction to attend as it may better their understanding of the phenomenon for instance what causes susceptibility to addiction, what are the physiological or neural processes accompanying addiction and the social ramifications and familial consequences.
